It's not long after Connor's left Hank in the sub-basement of CyberLife where he finds himself wandering. Not physically, not going aimlessly from place to place, but aimless in other ways. In the way that his programming struggles to grasp for routine, in the way that Connor looks at the streets of Detroit as something other than a place he's meant to protect.
No, there's still something in him with the same drive, like the digital echoes of old software. And deeper under that is the overwhelming urge to know exactly where he can find Lieutenant Hank Anderson.
Though Hank is anything but a regular user of his phone, Connor's impatient. He drafts a text and sends it quicker than a human being could type it.

What you did at the station and at headquarters was instrumental in the events of the past week. I can't thank you enough, Hank. The movement, Markus, they have no idea how much they owe you. And I owe you.

These days there are two possibilities for what this could be about, and the first one doesn't count. It might be Fowler telling Hank he finally grew enough balls to stand up to his bosses and asking Hank to come back to the station after all so he can go down on his knees and kiss Hank's ass until Hank accepts his apology. Or, a little more likely, it might be another spam text telling him he's won a brand new android.
That one'd made him laugh. It shouldn't of, probably, but it had. He could use a laugh, probably, so after a while Hank manages to badger himself into rolling off the couch, and standing up, and walking all the way across the room to his phone so he can look.
So, eventually, he reads it. He swallows. He clears his throat. Once he does he types back quick, before the shaky rush of actually hearing from Connor and knowing he's okay has time to fade, so he doesn't have time to talk himself into ignoring it.
